is there any reason behind keeping $config[RabbitMqEnv::RABBITMQ_CONNECTIONS] in config_default_DE.php instead of config_default-<ENV>.php ?

It is very flexible, and depends if you want that config to apply for all environments for the DE store, or if you only want the config to apply for one environment. You can see the order the config is parsed in Spryker\Shared\Config\Config::init

Well, in general you're right, but I spotted it can complain that the confi doesn't have a queue config for all stores on some console tasks

I see them ALL configued in

and then the same config duplicated in
https://github.com/spryker-shop/suite/blob/master/config/Shared/config_default_AT.php

so in that case, since they are all duplicates of each other I suppose it would make more sense to move them to ENV config instead?

I agree with that. We face the same problems in CI/CD pipelines and configuration.

We moved them to the env versions of the config.
