What are the Slack Archives?
It’s a history of our time together in the Slack Community! There’s a ton of knowledge in here, so feel free to search through the archives for a possible answer to your question.
Because this space is not active, you won’t be able to create a new post or comment here. I know the question sounds too simple, but can someone explain the difference between these two role
I know the question sounds too simple, but can someone explain the difference between these two roles from a customer perspective?
• Place Order (without limit) and
• Buy up to grand total (without limit)
Both are required to place an order, but how do you explain that to a customer?
Thx!

Hey @UL6Q0LYJ3 “up to grand-total” permission enables the feature called “approval process”, have a look here:
https://documentation.spryker.com/docs/en/approval-process-shop-guide#configuring-approve-up-to-grand-total-permission0 -
whereas “place order” is just a permission to place an order in general

ah there is even better one, with permissions overview:
https://documentation.spryker.com/docs/company-roles-reference-information0 -
Hey @UKJSE6T47, so far so good but why do i need both to place an order?
0 -
according to my understanding, i only need the permission “place order” to place an order
0 -
per my understanding,
• place order in general - allows placing an order. Otherwise - approval process is always required;
• place order up to - allows placing an order up to X. Otherwise - send a quote for approval.0 -
I’m not sure what will happen if you disable the 1st one / enable the 2nd or enable both. Maybe @UT9PVABFB can clarify

that's how I see it too - but i know what happen: if you do NOT enable both, you CANT place an order - Try this in your b2b demo shop. (https://www.de.b2b.demo-spryker.com)

Hello @UL6Q0LYJ3
those two permissions are mandatory because of the architecture approach
We are building our features granular and independent from each other, at least as much as possible
Place order - is generic one, but after you are adding Approval process, it’s adds it own permissions, (buy up to grand total and approve up to grand total)
but Approval process feature is optional, so in case you don’t need it - you will not see this two additional permissions0 -
Hey @UT9PVABFB, thx for your answer. That depends on our customers. Some want to use the approval process, others don't. From the technical side, i understand our approach, but I focus on the customer. 90% of our customers do NOT use the approval process, but ALL must select both rights. Unfortunately, this is not a good usability.

my customers don't understand that.

Ok, now I got the issue
I’ll add it to my list for the investigation, how to make Approval process permissions work only for the specific Approval process users0 -
Thank you!
