    this is usefule with external systems which have their own custom codes and reference numbers I guess. I know Lengow does, but I'm not sure which table you mention here

    As per our development:

    merchant_key - for import (initial/demo data)
merchant_reference - unique identifier of merchant (like SKU for product) could be imported/exported from some ERP system
merchant_key - not editable
merchant_ref you can see in UI
