From my experience, there are no any issues with this major upgrade but it requires couple of minutes of downtime to restart DB instance.

Because we are using managed AWS RDS, it has to be supported by AWS.
From what I can see, it is not supported yet.

So I was incorrect. 10.6 is available to upgrade. But personally I have no experience with upgrading to this version yet.

Well this looks very promising. Will I have to request that update or can I simply set that version in my deployment file?

DB version isn't managed by deploy file in the cloud (yet?). You need to go via support request path.

You can test it locally (via deploy file) and then request to upgrade it in the cloud.
